Witchdoctor's Son becomes an Evangelist

Titus grew up in the village of Lakhitar, Bhutan. He was Hindu, and his father was a witch-doctor. At the age of six he began to work for another Hindu family in the village, doing chores. He continued to work for this same family all during his growing up years. After a period of time, his employers became Christians.

Titus would listen to the Christians talk and pray while he was in their house, and he began to wonder about the things he heard. For many years he had suffered with a bone marrow problem, which caused him much pain in his legs. He heard the Christians say that Jesus could heal all sicknesses. When he was seventeen, he decided to pray to Jesus and ask for this healing for himself. After praying, he was instantly healed! Filled with joy, he asked Jesus into his heart and received salvation also.

Titus was totally changed from that day on. But within six months he began to receive persecution from his father, the witch doctor. His father threatened to have him arrested, and encouraged the other villagers to stone Titus whenever they saw him. Titus let none of this affect his faith in Jesus Christ. Finally his father told Titus that if he did not give up Christianity, he would lose his inheritance. Titus chose Jesus. His family was moving to Nepal, and when Titus made this decision, they left him behind.

Titus began to preach the gospel in his area, which is near the border of Bhutan. Recently, he met nine teenage Hindu girls while he was out preaching. When they heard the things he was saying, they challenged him to answer ten questions about his faith. Under the leading of the Holy Spirit, Titus offered to give four answers to each question- a total of forty answers! The girls were amazed, and began to ask their questions. Titus used his Bible to give the answers from the Word of God. His simple powerful responses convinced them, and they all accepted Christ that day.

Titus continued to preach the gospel. One day about a year ago, he decided to go to Nepal to witness to his family. They were living in the village of Jhapa. He went and shared with them again about Jesus. His family did not accept Jesus then, but three other families in the village became Christians as a result of his preaching. This brought the number of believers in Jhapa to seven families. Eighteen-year old Titus helped them establish a church, and those believers continue to meet regularly in a home for Bible reading, encouragement and prayer.

Titus has a vision to witness particularly to young people. It is simple believers like him who are taking their town and villages for Jesus, one person at a time.
